Mexican Speckled Bobwhites

Mexican Speckled Bobwhite Quail - PRE-ORDERS 2025

These eggs will become available from September onwards and only once sexing has been checked and we are happy.  If for any reason, we can't produce your order a a full refund will be given.

Man we love these birds, so full of character and personality, stunning to look at, and very easily tamed.  They were a must as soon as the kids decided that quail was there thing!

We love having these tiny rugby balls of attatude,  and I'm so pleased that the kids wanted to get some soon after hatching our first few batches of coturnix!   With the addition of some new birds this winter we now have a group of around 12 hens and 8 cocks. So we should have plenty of lovely hatching eggs this season, we expect the first ones to be posted after fertility testing around the first or second of April.

These are easy birds to keep and are ideally suited to aviaries and large pens, they do well in pairs or small groups and breed freely, like the CPQ often hatching their own eggs and raising a brood without trouble.

We'll be pre-selling a limited amount of sexed and full colour Snowflake Bobwhite Quail Pairs this year until the end of April, and then we won't have any more until the orders have been filled. Keep popping back to check on the avalability though as it will be first come first sered. Orders will be filled in the order they are placed.  We'll make contact once the birds start laying to advise on a rough availability date and follow this up a few weeks before they are ready for collection or shipping.  If for any reason the orders can't be fulfilled a full refund will be given.  Based on recent years it's safe to assume the birds will be ready around the second week in September onwards.

ABOUT US

Im sure you've read about us and this already but here it is again.

Here’s our background story! You know how it goes, you buy some eggs to hatch to show the children, and they get bored after a while… well that’s what I thought would happen!! Turns out it’s quite the opposite. THEY LOVE THEM!

So we hatch a few more and a few more and now we have loads of eggs. And all although we pickle some and give some to the neighbors it’s more than we can eat (and hatch) the children are just old enough to learn and have an interest in money and pocket money and we thought what better way to teach them about it and give them a bit more responsibility than to let them sell some eggs properly. We really enjoy having the quail and it gets the kids outside doing things whatever the weather.

The quail themselves are a beautiful mix of colors and are ultra-friendly, they are kept very clean, and they get a diet of mixed seeds, chick crumb, layers mash, fresh homegrown salad, and kale every day 🥒🥬.

  • These delightful little birds are some of our favorites, about the size of a sparrow and full of character.  Their eggs are teeny tiny about the size of a small thumbnail.  These birds will live very happily in pairs often brooding and hatching their eggs, they are also suited to small colonies, where there are multiple males we suggest 2-3 hens per boy.
